Petroperú rewards schools of Talara with computers

Petroperú delivered more than 60 state-of-the-art laptops to the nine schools that had an outstanding participation in the "Mi Cole Recicla" environmental contest, carried out in coordination with the Provincial Municipality of Talara.

This initiative —in line with the environmental policy of the state oil company and the commitments assumed in the Community Relations Plan of the Environmental Impact Study of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project— seeks greater environmental awareness among the student population and the improvement of management and disposal end of usable solid waste, in order to take action on the problems that afflict that city.

There were 14 participating schools, evaluating —at the time of the award— the creativity and innovation of the proposals for recycling stations, as well as the collection of usable solid waste. Likewise, the recycling stations with the most reactions (likes) were awarded on the Facebook page of the Provincial Municipality of Talara, in the period between October and December 2022.

The awarded educational institutions were: Inicial No. 107010, Santa Elena, Inicial No. 1072, No.15038 Santa Rosa de Lima, No. 15511 San Martín de Porres, Ignacio Merino, 15509 Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, Emblemática 15513 and Politécnico Alejandro Taboada.

It is important to mention that, as part of this environmental contest, the schools stored more than 17,000 kilos of usable material, which were delivered to the Association of Formal Recyclers of the Provincial Municipality of Talara for management at the Recovery Plant, located in the city landfill.

Petroperú thus reaffirms its commitment to implement initiatives in joint work with the provincial authority and the beneficiary population, seeking to generate greater sustainability through the improvement of education and human capacity regarding the mitigation of climate change and the reduction of its effects.
