PETROPERU reports the capture of the Morona Station of the North Peruvian Pipeline by neighbors of Fernando Rosas
Yesterday, Tuesday, April 24, a group of people from the town of Fernando Rosas, located in the province of Datem del Marañón, in Loreto, suddenly took the facilities of the Morona Station of the North Branch Pipeline (ORN) of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), forcing the unjustified suspension of the crude oil pumping operation at the ORN.
After the first inquiries, the cause of this violent action apparently would be the discontinuation of the electric service that PETROPERU offers for free to the town Fernando Rosas through the aforementioned station. A short circuit that would have been caused by an overload of energy due to the presence of precarious household connections and an increase in the population in that locality. This increase in consumption would have exceeded the available energy capacity to maintain the service.
PETROPERU calls on the residents of Fernando Rosas to lift this measure of force so that the Company can reinforce the system and be able to restore the service that is provided to them free of charge. At the same time, the relevant authorities have been notified to guarantee the safety of the facilities and the personnel that work in the aforementioned station.
