PETROPERU reports progress of control work of a minor upcrop in Km 549 of the North Peruvian Pipeline

PETROPERU informs the public opinion of the following:

1. On December 21, PETROPERU reported having detected a minor outcrop of oil at Km 549 of Section II of the Norperuano Pipeline, the same that did not affect water sources. In this area the tube is underground.
2. The Contingency Plan was immediately launched, proceeding to move specialized technical personnel and equipment for the construction of a waterproof containment pool, the excavation of a ditch to discover the pipeline and repair of the affected segment; as well as start cleaning work.
3. To date, the outcrop has already been controlled and the pipeline repaired by installing a ROMACON Staple, which has allowed the safe operation of the pipeline to be restored.
4. Likewise, the cause of the incident has been identified, which would have been caused by the pressure of a rock on the bottom surface of the pipe, deforming it and damaging its coating, which caused the formation of a pinhole (small diameter passing anomaly, not detectable by the smart scraper)
5. The environmental impact has been lower, since from the first moment the cleaning and containment actions were carried out that correspond within the framework of the law and the best practices of the industry.
6. All this has been carried out deploying the greatest efforts with uninterrupted work, 24 hours a day.
7. PETROPERU duly notified the supervisory and supervisory bodies, who are in the area exercising their functions.
8. The Company will continue communicating the execution of the cleaning work in the area.
