PETROPERÚ reports on the restart of construction work at the new Ilo Terminal

During the virtual session of the Ilo Dialogue Table, the Engineering Department Manager of PETROPERÚ, Carola Palacios Toledo, reported that the state company has been adjusting the deadlines to restart the construction work of the new Ilo Terminal, following biosafety protocols.

At the meeting, which was attended by the mayor of that province, Gerardo Carpio Diaz and the councilors of that commune, among other members of this dialogue space, Palacios Toledo maintained that, despite the adjusted schedule, the state company is on track to continue with the execution of such an important project, which aims to receive, store and dispatch various fuels, such as diesel B5, diesel 2E and gasohol 84, among others.

"This whole process, which involves the scheduling of activities for the physical restart of the works, as well as the hiring of personnel, must be adjusted to be able to restart work in the last quarter of 2021," said the official, adding that PETROPERÚ is currently in the phase of acquiring the main materials and equipment, many of them coming from abroad -such as necessary parts- for the storage tanks.

Palacios Toledo clarified that many of these components have already begun to arrive and are being stored in Mollendo, temporarily, and then, in due course, be transferred to Ilo.

In turn, Tomás Flores Noriega, Manager of the Western Social Management Department of PETROPERÚ, argued that to all this must be added the changes in the management models generated as a result of the health pandemic caused by COVID-19. "This has had an impact on the financial aspect, being a very complex year for the Company, which has introduced numerous protocols to guarantee the safety of the workers in the project," he specified at the time of announcing that all efforts are being made so that the date of resumption of works can be brought forward.

"The main interested in completing the project, due to the return on investment, is PETROPERÚ. We have not been holding hands, since the engineering stage has been completed 100%," he said, clarifying that PETROPERÚ does not receive funds from the public treasury, rather, on the contrary, it contributes to its budget through the taxes that the Company pays for the sale of fuels.

Likewise, he announced that his Social Management Plan, for the remainder of the year and next, seeks to meet expectations, for the benefit of the Ilo population.

The mayor of Ilo, Gerardo Carpio, expressed his satisfaction with the achievements reached in this virtual session and said that he will continue to work jointly with the state oil company with a single objective: to complete the works of the new Ilo Terminal.

Regarding the installation of the video surveillance cameras, which is part of one of the commitments assumed with the population of Ilo, by PETROPERÚ, and after a tour of the Villa del Mar Urb, where they will be installed, the respective inventory, verifying that they are in good condition, ready for their final location.
