PETROPERU reports on minor oil outcrop at km 549 of section II of the North Peruvian Pipeline
PETROPERÚ addresses public opinion to report the following:
- On Saturday, December 21, at approximately 6 p.m., a spot of oil was detected at Km 549 of Section II of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), province of Jaén in Cajamarca. In this area the pipeline is underground. The outcrop is small (1.5 meters long and 0.70 meters wide) and has not affected any water sources.
- The cause of the incident is under investigation.
- PETROPERU immediately activated its Contingency Plan, arranging the mobilization of machinery for the construction of a waterproofed well and trench excavation to discover the pipe and repair it. It should be noted that this Section of the Pipeline was at a scheduled stop.
- Likewise, PETROPERU has notified the supervisory and supervisory bodies.
- The Company will continue to communicate the progress in the repair and cleaning of the area.
