Petroperú reports new cut in the North Peruvian Pipeline
A new cut has been identified at km 392+710 of Section II of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), in the Nieva district, Condorcanqui province, Amazonas region. Specialized personnel from Petroperú managed to contain the leak by placing bolted clips. With this, there have been seven attacks on the ONP in 2023.
After coordination and sustained dialogue with the Kuzumatak native community, close to the place of the event, the activities to be carried out were agreed, such as hiring unskilled labor, excavation work and land leveling, signing the corresponding minutes.
Petroperú informed the supervisory agencies so that they may carry out the respective supervision of the event. We appreciate the willingness of the authorities and the population of the Kuzumatak native community to accompany the activities for the adequate attention of this contingency.
It is worth noting the rapid action of the oil company, by immediately activating its Contingency Plan, one of whose first activities was to verify that the valves at km 371 and km 434 of Section II remain closed; and the mobilization of operations and maintenance personnel.
