PETROPERU reports new attack on the North Peruvian Pipeline
Today, March 11, at around 9:30 in the morning, during the patrol activities an oil spill was detected close to Km 88 + 400 of Section 1 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), near the community 6 de Julio, in Loreto.
The leak is due to a cut to the pipeline, and the crude oil has been confined to the containment channel, an artificial installation designed for this type of contingency, without spreading to any water source.
Immediately the contingency plan was activated, and personnel with specialized equipment travelled by air to the area, where they are performing all the necessary actions to solve the incident in the shortest possible time to protect the communities and the environment.
It should be noted that in Section 1, the Clearing and Road Rights Plan is being developed, which provides employment to the communities neighboring the ONP and which includes social responsibility actions for the benefit of the same.
PETROPERU continues making its maximum efforts to solve this incident and urges the population to protect the ONP, the operation of which is essential for the development of the communities of the jungle and the progress of the country.
