Petroperú reports a new cut in the North Peruvian Pipeline
A new contingency has been identified at kilometer 62+459 of Section I of the North Peruvian Oil Pipeline (ONP), located in the Urarinas district, Loreto province, Loreto region, in an event caused by third parties, immediately activating the Contingency Plan, which It included the mobilization of specialized Petroperú personnel to the site for the respective crude oil containment tasks.
Simultaneously, it coordinated with contractors - who carry out work in the area - in order to support the barrier installation activities, managing to contain the leak. In the next few hours the pipe will be reinforced by installing a bolted clamp once its transfer to the site is complete.
Petroperú has informed the corresponding authorities of the fact, including supervisory agencies, so that they can carry out the respective supervision of the event and investigate its causes.
Incidents in the ONP
During the year 2022, 14 contingencies caused by third parties were recorded, of which 12 occurred in Section I. So far in 2023, 10 contingencies have also been recorded caused by third parties, of which 8 have occurred in Section II and 2 in Section I.
