Petroperú repeats its request to residents for attending to contingencies in the Amazon region

Petroperú reiterated its request to the authorities and residents of the Tunduza native community to allow the entry of the personnel sent to contain the leak registered on May 15 at kilometer 358+835 of Section II of the Norperuano Pipeline (ONP), in the Nieva district, Condorcanqui province, Amazonas region.

As reported on time, from the first day of reporting the event, the company activated its Contingency Plan, displacing its own personnel and contractors with materials and equipment to carry out first response tasks, such as the placement of containment barriers and the installation of a clip to contain the crude leak.

During these days, the residents have reiterated that they will maintain their measure of force and will not allow the entry of Petroperú's operational personnel until the State meets the social demands related to a water and sanitation project, whose viability is not appropriate, as it already was. determined by the Ministry of Energy and Mines and the Supervisory Agency for Investment in Energy and Mining - Osinergmin, since it affects the security of the ONP.

Faced with this situation, Petroperú has asked the corresponding authorities to intercede to allow the entry of Petroperú personnel and its contractors, in order to avoid a greater impact on the surroundings of this contingency whose origin has not yet been determined.

It should be noted that Section II has been paralyzed since June 7, 2022, due to low crude oil inventories at Station 5, due to the stoppage of pumping due to contingencies that occurred in Section I.

In recent years, the ONP has suffered a series of attacks by third parties not yet identified. So far in 2023 alone, there have been three intentional cuts in the progressive kilometers 390+210, 399+861 and 400+818 of section II.
