PETROPERU repairs pipeline at kilometer 713 of the North Peruvian Pipeline
After the outcrop of crude oil at kilometer 713 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), jurisdiction of the Sequión village, PETROPERU completed the oil recovery and cleaning work in the area, to proceed with the pipeline repair work.
Likewise, as an agreement with the residents of Sequión, the rehabilitation of the carriageway will be carried out to facilitate entry to said village.
These works in the pipeline are carried out in the area called Right of Way, destined for said works according to Art. 94 of Supreme Decree No. 081-2007-EM, Regulation of Hydrocarbons through Pipelines.
It should be noted that according to Legislative Decree No. 1292-2016, the Safe Operation of the North Peruvian Pipeline was declared of Public Necessity and of National Interest, so that in contingency situations such as the outcrop of crude oil, urgent action is required.
Along this line, we proceeded to work at kilometer 713, to contain the crude, adopting technical, safety and environmental measures to minimize impacts, restore service and control the risks associated with the activity of the Pipeline.
Likewise, the activities adopted to address the contingency at kilometer 713 are also supported by Decree Law No. 22180, which declared a 75-meter wide strip on each side of the Pipeline as a Reserve Zone, with the end of the actions are carried out within the maximum security measures.
PETROPERU communicated the event to the supervisory bodies and maintains a permanent dialogue with the inhabitants of Sequión.
