PETROPERU remains willing to dialogue, but without violence

Facing reports that question the veracity of the facts communicated by PETROPERU, about the regrettable events that occurred last weekend in the community of Chapis, PETROPERU informs the public:

PETROPERU, in strict compliance with its policy of community relations, has maintained its disposition to dialogue and is respectful of the customs and traditions of the native communities, in its permanent quest to strengthen its bonds with them and promote their development.

PETROPERÚ has transparently communicated the unfortunate events that took place on December 16, when, faced with their own versions by leaders of ORPIASEM in the media of Iquitos, they ordered the detainment, against their will, of the staff of the contractor companies CORPESA, Servicorrosión and PETROPERÚ in the community of Chapis; unjustified measures of violence that unfortunately had serious consequences.

Likewise, it has publicly and repeatedly invoked the community leaders of Chapis, that under optimal conditions of dialogue and without exercising forceful measures that could put people's lives and health at risk, they could achieve consensus and start the work of cleaning at Km. 221 of the ONP.

PETROPERU will maintain its willingness to dialogue, but without violence, under the necessary security measures and with due guarantees that respect citizens' rights.
