Petroperú rejects violent acts affecting the Talara Refinery
In response to the protests that took place today, January 6, 2025, outside the Talara Refinery and Talara Sales Plants, Petroperú reiterates its commitment to the community and the authorities to maintain an open and constant dialogue to address their concerns and work together to find peaceful solutions within the legal and regulatory framework.
In this regard, the company has held meetings with representatives of the Artisanal Fishermen's Guild of San Pedro (Pariñas) on December 26, 2024, with the population of the Lobitos district on December 27, with the Artisanal Fishermen's Guild of San Pablo (La Brea-Negritos district) and with the Artisanal Fishermen's Guild of Cabo Blanco (El Alto) on December 30, 2024. During these meetings, agreements were reached for the processing of the different requests, which will be evaluated and attended to according to the current regulatory framework.
The company also urges citizens to cease acts of violence and protests that interrupt its operations, such as those recorded this morning, where personnel access to the facilities was blocked.
These actions affect the operational continuity of the Talara Refinery, put at risk the health and integrity of the workers who work in this facility, classified as a National Critical Asset, and generate a negative impact on the supply of fuel at the national level. Petroperú categorically rejects any act of vandalism that uses protests to interrupt refinery operations, compromising national security and the well-being of citizens.
The company reaffirms its willingness to engage in dialogue and to continue reporting transparently on the progress of the cleaning and environmental monitoring actions, in strict compliance with the regulatory procedures required by the supervisory bodies.
