Petroperú rejects the illegal takeover of Station 5 of the North Peruvian Oil Pipeline

Petroperú reports that, in the early hours of Tuesday, April 15, a group of approximately 500 people illegally and unjustifiably forced their way into the industrial zone of Station 5 of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), located in Loreto, intensifying the protests that a group of local teachers have been carrying out since April 1.

Although the company, along with other state entities, was in a process of dialogue with the surrounding communities regarding the recent attack on the ONP, these new demonstrations and the violation of Station 5's security are in response to demands and complaints that have no connection to Petroperú's activities or responsibilities. However, these actions are seriously affecting the operation of this industrial facility, putting the safety of personnel, infrastructure, and the surrounding area at risk.

Station 5 is part of the ONP, declared a National Critical Asset, essential for the transportation and marketing of oil in the country. Their illegal occupation constitutes a serious threat that demands an immediate and coordinated response from the authorities.

In light of these events, Petroperú strongly rejects any action that violates the legal framework and affects its operations. It urgently calls on the protesters to cease these illegal actions, vacate the hydrocarbon storage facilities, and channel their demands through the appropriate institutional channels.

It also demands the urgent intervention of the competent authorities to restore order, safeguard security, and protect this strategic infrastructure for the country.

Petroperú reaffirms its commitment to respect for the law, constructive dialogue, and the sustainable development of its operations.
