Petroperú recycled and reused nearly three tons of electronic waste

Petroperú promotes the responsible recycling of disused electronic devices and a circular economy model, aimed at the valorization of the waste generated, managing, at the Conchán Refinery, more than 2,830 kilograms of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE).

The State oil company seeks, in this way, to make visible the importance of adequate management of WEEE as part of the commitment to care for the environment and health, with the company's priority being to increase the repair, reuse and recycling of this equipment, as a way to promote the circular economy and contribute to the protection of the planet.

Within the WEEE managed by Conchán Refinery, computer screens, batteries, telephones, laboratory equipment and other electronic equipment were found written off, which were managed thanks to joint and collaborative work with its strategic ally RECOLECC, an organization dedicated to the management and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

It should be noted that this recycling initiative is not limited only to electronic waste, but also involves other recoverable waste. Thus, for example, in the last year the Conchán Refinery has delivered more than 13 tons of paper, cardboard and plastic bottles to Aldeas Infantiles SOS, an organization that works to promote and defend the rights of children in vulnerable situations.

This delivery of recoverable waste is part of the “Recycle, play your role and turn it around” campaign, led by Aldeas Infantiles SOS, which seeks to transform the concept of traditional recycling, generating resources with which to finance the feeding of hundreds of small of the 120 family houses and 72 community homes distributed in Lima, Callao, Arequipa, Cajamarca, Lambayeque, Junín, Cusco, Puno and Ayacucho.
