Petroperú receives distinction for water project in Pasco
Petroperú achieved another award for the projects undertaken to benefit the population, in its areas of influence, this time in Pasco, obtaining the 2022 Proactive Award for its Technified Irrigation Project in Ninacaca, which will optimize water resources -in times of cold and drought- in around 12 hectares of pasture cultivation.
The conference took place in a hotel in the capital, where -on behalf of the company- the award was received by Ricardo Medina, head of Social Management Conchán y Plantas.
It should be noted that the project, developed in the rural community of San Pedro de Ninacaca, at an altitude of more than 4,300 meters, will allow close to 200 rural families to obtain efficient use of water, based on the appropriate use of technology, which means not only saving this natural resource -for agricultural use- but also greater productivity, making use of extensive areas where water is scarce.
Likewise, the peasants -thanks to this project- have managed to install multiple drinking fountains for their animals, becoming essential elements for a cattle production and fattening operation. In the same way, they will optimize the bio-gardens installed in the area. Petroperú also carried out training for the staff of the peasant community.
As is known, Petroperú has been building a supply plant in Ninacaca, with a storage capacity, in its first phase, of 7,500 barrels for the dispatch of B5 diesel and gasoline. In this way, the aim is to increase the presence of the State company in the commercialization of fuels throughout the country.
Simultaneously with this construction, Petroperú assumed the commitment to implement a Technified Sprinkler Irrigation system for 12 hectares of communal land, addressing the problem of water resource use in the area, framed in the Social Management policy of the state company.
