PETROPERU reaffirms that they aren't hiring underage workers for the restoration of the Peruvian Oil Pipeline.
The Board Director of PETROPERU, German Velasquez Salazar clarified various allegations about the company hiring underage workers for the repairing, recovering of the crude oil and the environmental restoration of the damage occurred near the Chiriaco community in the Amazon region.
“There hasn't been any presence or any hiring of children to work on the restoration. I have personally been in the area and I can guarantee that PETROPERU is not hiring underage workers for any kind of tasks”, stressed Velasquez Salazar.
He also said that the company has carefully verified the personal information of all the hired workers because such work is for adults only and that these workers, with the approval of their local authorities, are exclusively from the community.
On the other side, Velasquez Salazar said that the company is taking precautions on the damage caused in the area and according to the studies of the environmental impact, there is no sign of contamination in the Marañon river or in any of its branches. He also clarified that PETROPERU immediately started on its Contingency Plan to solve the incident.
“I have verified that the progress of the restoration of the damage is been taken place through a systematised and specialised technological process in spite of the wilderness and the harsh climate conditions”, he said.
PETROPERU ratifies its compromise with the preservation of the environment and is working to repair and restore the incident in a short time period.
