Petroperú reactivates industrial natural gas connections in Tacna
Petroperú marks a new stage in the massification of natural gas in the south of the country with the enabling of this service to a company that produces agricultural plastics in the Tacna Free Trade Zone (ZOFRATACNA), thereby reactivating industrial connections in this important productive area.
With the enabling of the natural gas service, the manufacturing company will be able to improve its production, generate significant savings and, above all, contribute to the preservation of the environment, among other benefits, thereby consolidating the commitment of the state oil company to energy development.
Likewise, with this important advance, the use of natural gas is reinforced as an economic, safe and clean source of energy not only for homes and businesses, but also to optimize high-scale industrial production processes.
The president of ZOFRATACNA, Efraín Mamani Suarez, highlighted the importance of this new natural gas connection that will contribute to regional development and called for more industries in Tacna to join this public service to enhance their processes, improve the durability of their equipment and produce responsibly with low emissions of polluting gases.
Regarding the natural gas service
Petroperú administers this public service for the cities of Arequipa, Moquegua, Ilo and Tacna by special order of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) and is authorized to connect new clients with consumptions greater than 300 m³/month, as established in the specific agreement for new investments signed with said state entity. In addition, MINEM continues to expand the service coverage through investment projects developed with resources from the Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE), managing to build 150 new kilometers of networks during 2024. These initiatives will allow the connection of more industrial, commercial and residential consumers, boosting the economy and improving the quality of life in southern Peru.
