PETROPERÚ ratifies its willingness to dialogue and fulfilling commitments with native communities

Faced with journalistic versions of non-compliance with PETROPERÚ's commitments to native Amazonian organizations, the Company addresses public opinion to specify:

  1. PETROPERÚ has been participating in coordination meetings in recent weeks with the native Federations, officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM), the purpose of which has been to define the actions that allow it to comply with the commitments assumed by the Company on March 3, 2022, the date on which inter-institutional cooperation agreements were signed with the Awajún of the Apaga River Native Federation (FENARA) and the Organization of Indigenous and Peasant Peoples of Alto Marañón (ORPICAM).
  2. As a result of these coordinations and efforts carried out through a permanent and purposeful dialogue, the FENARA and ORPICAM federations have suspended the force measure that they announced days ago, and have expressed their willingness to establish sustainable agreements that favor native communities. .
  3. It should be remembered that these agreements establish the financing for the formulation and execution of technical files for seven communal premises in the communities of Borja, Nueva Alegría, Capernaum, Pachacútec, Belén, Atahualpa and Nueva Soledad; as well as the construction of two administrative headquarters of FENARA and ORPICAM.
  4. PETROPERÚ has committed, as it has been doing, to participate in an upcoming meeting on May 31 with the Federations mentioned in the offices of the Ministry of Energy and Mines and with the participation of the PCM, where the mechanism for the execution of the work in the communities, as well as the specific schedule, in accordance with the agreements signed.
  5. PETROPERÚ has always considered the native Amazonian communities as its strategic partners in the operation of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), for this reason it is of paramount importance to maintain respectful and consensual relations, both with the native communities and with the organizations that support their development. , which, jointly with PETROPERÚ and the Peruvian State, share the great challenge of contributing to social peace, well-being and development.
