Petroperú ratifies its interest and capacity to operate lots in Talara

In relation to the publication made by a national newspaper on the operation of Lot I and Petroperú’s return to oil and gas production activities, the following is specified:

  • Petroperú has been complying strictly with the obligations assumed in the License Agreement for Lot I, as confirmed by Perupetro.
  • The average controlled production of Lot I during this present August is 501 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), above what was projected in the contract for that month (480 BOPD).
  • Production in March and April was affected -in all the lots in the northwest- by the effects of Cyclone Yaku and the heavy rains recorded in Talara.
  • Lot I is operated by Petroperú within the framework of the 22-month temporary license contract, which expires on October 27 of this year. The obligations established in the aforementioned contract are only for production in an efficient manner, according to its term of validity. Due to its temporality, it does not contemplate investment commitments in exploitation and exploration activities, as is done in the 30-year concession contracts.
  • Likewise, Petroperú confirms its interest in assuming the operations of lots I, VI and Z-2B whose contracts are about to expire, thus seeking the maximum and efficient recovery of hydrocarbon production in said lots, within the framework of its defined corporate strategy in its annual and five-year objectives approved by the sector.
