The General Manager of PETROPERÚ, Carlos Barrientos Gonzales, met with the Provincial Mayor of Talara, José Vitonera Infante, to whom he reiterated the firm and permanent commitment of the state company to the sustainable development of this province, through the execution of important social projects and the implementation of coordinated actions with the authorities to face the COVID-19 pandemic, as it has been doing in the hardest and most critical moments of the State of Emergency.

At the meeting, held at the facilities of the Provincial Municipality of Talara, following biosecurity protocols, Carlos Barrientos asked the local authority to work together in the implementation of an awareness campaign and citizen reporting, where neighbors inform through official channels on breaches of the COVID-19 health regulations in the city, in order to coordinate their immediate intervention.

This joint initiative will strengthen other implemented actions, such as the blocking of entry passes to the Talara Refinery facilities of the workers of the contractor and subcontractor companies that are intervened by the National Police of Peru for breach of sanitary regulations. He also pointed out that the contractor companies have been asked to maintain and redouble the corresponding corrective measures to prevent these events from being repeated during the state of emergency that the country is experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Carlos Barrientos invited municipal officials to make a guided visit to the work areas of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT), so that they can learn in situ the protocols followed by the more than 7,000 workers who are currently working in the execution of this project that has an integral advance of 94.61%.

At another point in his participation, Carlos Barrientos, who was accompanied by the Talara Refinery Manager, Jorge Alméstar Mauricio and the West Social Management Department Manager, Tomás Flores Noriega, ratified the commitment of the state company to social investment for the benefit of the Talara population , through the construction of two underground tanks of 1,000 m3 and 2,500 m3, equipped with a pumping system for water reservoirs in order to increase the number of distribution hours in the city. To continue with this project, the local authority undertook to review the specific agreements.

On the other hand, the intention expressed to the commune, in 2018 and 2019, to carry out the recovery of the roads of Av. A as part of the Social Management actions, in line with the Community Relations Plan (PRC) of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) of the PMRT, and which was suspended at the request of the local authority for having a management directed to execute the work through the budget for Reconstruction with Changes, will be taken up by PETROPERÚ, after formal communication of the Municipality of Talara if it does not have a budget assigned for said action.

Also, environmental projects for the recovery of green areas will be carried out in 46 areas of Talara in which a total of 600 rotating temporary job opportunities will be generated, in the order of 200 per month, for those people who could not complete their participation in the Project of Cleaning Critical Points due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Regarding the rehabilitation of the operating room of the Carlos Vivanco Mauricio II Health Center, PETROPERÚ reinforced its commitment to support said project jointly with the Minsa.
