PETROPERU ratifies compliance of the commitments with the communities of Andoas

Representatives of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Environmental Assessment and Enforcement Agency, the General Directorate of Environmental Health (DIGESA) and PETROPERU met with leaders of the communities of the Andoas district, Loreto, on Tuesday, July 17 to review the progress made on the commitments assumed by the Company after the appearance of oily spots after a strong flood of the Pastaza River on May 25.

In the minutes it was confirmed that PETROPERU will continue with the preventive delivery of bottled water until 90 days have passed since the incident, as well as with the preventive delivery of food to all the communities in the district. In relation to the medical campaign carried out by the Company, which will end on July 19, a report will be issued to the Regional Health Directorate and the Ministry of Health with the results thereof.

Likewise, it was reported that the results of the monitoring of total petroleum hydrocarbons in the supply sources of 13 native communities near the Pastaza River carried out by DIGESA, determined that the water of said river and the water for human consumption in the district of Andoas meet with the allowed limits established in the Regulation of Water Quality for Human Consumption.

During the meeting, PETROPERU also made a commitment to increase the coverage of the pilot program of tutoring and academic reinforcement of fifth-year students from 50 to 100 students so that they can apply for the Beca 18 program, among other points.

Finally, it was agreed to continue the dialogue on some pending issues at a next meeting scheduled for August 16.

As can be remembered, on May 25 oily spots were observed in the Pastaza River, at the interfluvial junction with Km. 22 of the North Branch Pipeline. Immediately, the Company's Emergency Plan was activated, the pumping was stopped and the valves were closed on both banks of the river.

PETROPERU will continue to deploy its best efforts to maintain a permanent dialogue with the communities around it, fulfilling its commitments and protecting the environment.
