PETROPERU puts into operation its third barge for a safer transportation of fuel
In the midst of great expectation, PETROPERU put into operation its brand new barge "Río Pisqui", with the capacity to transport more than eight thousand barrels of fuel through the rivers of our Amazon.
The ship, a double hull, was built by the Industrial Services of the Navy (SIMA), and with it, PETROPERU totals three boats for a safer transport of fuels, fulfilling the requirements to navigate the rivers of the Amazon.
The ceremony was held at the SIMA Iquitos shipyard, on one of the banks of the Nanay River, near Iquitos, where Engineer Guillermo Bergelund, Supply Chain Manager of the state oil company, on behalf of the Senior Management of PETROPERU, highlighted that in total there will be 12 new barges that will sail the mighty rivers of the jungle, transporting fuel.
In that sense, the official recalled that in 2018 two ships were received, "Rio Putumayo" and "Rio Yarapa", which are already satisfactorily navigating the rivers of our Amazon. Of the total of 12 barges, seven will have capacity for eight thousand barrels and five for 20 thousand.
The high official highlighted the significant presence of PETROPERU in the development of the region, "not only bringing energy to all corners of that region, but also working in permanent alliance with neighboring communities, protecting the environment first and foremost."
