PETROPERÚ puts into operation a new barge that will transport fuel by rivers of the Amazon
PETROPERÚ put into operation its barge "Río Mayo", built by the Industrial Services of the Navy - Iquitos (SIMAI), thus completing the fleet of 12 double-hull barges that carry out the safe transport of hydrocarbons in the various rivers of the Amazon.
This ship, with the capacity to transport 20 thousand barrels (MB) of fuel, is part of the project to build a dozen double-hull vessels that SIMAI developed on behalf of the state oil company, in accordance with current environmental regulations to improve the safety conditions in the transportation of fuels through the Amazon.
It is important to specify that these barges comply with the Bureau Veritas grading certification, considered the most demanding in the international standard, which guarantees that the thicknesses, structures and technical specifications used are guaranteed, in accordance with the safety and environmental regulations required for the river transportation of fuels.
Five of these vessels have a cargo capacity of 20 thousand barrels (20 MB) and seven have a transport capacity of 8 thousand barrels (8 MB). In this way, PETROPERÚ has a fluvial fleet made up of “Lagunas”, “Saramuro”, “Río Paranapura” and “Puerto América” and “Río Mayo” of 20 MB each, in addition to “Río Putumayo”, “Río Yarapa", "Río Pisqui", "Tahuayo", "Río Yavarí", "Río Urubamba" and "Río Ampiyacu", each with a capacity to transport 8 MB of fuel.
All these barges are named after the rivers of the Amazon basin and are operating in the transport of hydrocarbons on the route between Iquitos Refinery, Pucallpa and Yurimaguas.
In this way, PETROPERÚ contributes to the development of the jungle, not only bringing energy to all corners of that region, but also working in permanent alliance with neighboring communities, protecting the environment.
