PETROPERÚ and the Puerto San Pedro de Talara Artisan Fishermen's Guild ratified their commitment to consolidate their alliance and submit new innovation projects to the competition called by the National Program for Innovation in Fisheries and Aquaculture (PNIPA) of the Ministry of Production.
Participation will take place in the category of Fisheries and Aquaculture Extension Services (SEREX), which will allow artisanal fishermen to access resources for the financing of productive projects, promoting the strengthening of the skills of seafarers in the application of new technologies to improve their businesses, in the different phases of the fishing value chain.
In this sense, the Manager of the Western Social Management Department of PETROPERÚ, Tomás Flores Noriega, pledged the support of the state company to formalize the promises of the Association Agreement, documents necessary to specify the participation of up to 10 projects in the next contest.
In a meeting with the president and directors of the San Pedro de Talara Fishermen's Union, the official recalled that in 2020 PETROPERÚ and the San Pedro Artisanal Fishermen's Union participated -in alliance with the Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego and the Universidad de Piura- in the execution of four projects, financed with the PNIPA contest funds.
The initiatives developed under this modality had an investment that exceeded half a million soles, of which 20% was covered by the state company, in its capacity as a collaborating entity.
