PETROPERU promotes environmental education in children of loreto communities

Strengthening the knowledge of our environment, creating unforgettable experiences that inspire respect and protecting nature are some of the important objectives that guide the actions developed by PETROPERU within the framework of Social Responsibility in Iquitos.

One of those activities was the implementation of environmental education programs conducted in partnership with experienced professionals from the Amazon Forever NGO and the Amazon Earth Environmental Group (GATIA). With these programs, the Amazonian children are sensitized and sensitized.

Thus, with the program "A day in the forest", developed with Amazon Forever, children connect directly with nature, identify the characteristics of the forest with outdoor games and dynamics, explore the jungle and get excited by the Amazonian narrations. Thanks to this agreement, more than 1,500 Iquitos children have visited the forest in a singular conservation area of white sand, where recreational/educational activities are developed seeking to train agents of socio-environmental change.

The environmental education program "Recibella Project: Solid Waste Management in the Children's Forest" (BONI), developed with GATIA, promotes and stimulates the environmental awareness of the residents of the Arenal and El Milagro communities, neighboring the Iquitos Refinery, to teach them the segregation, use, proper management and recycling of solid waste.

This way, by integrating common objectives, awareness of respect for the environment is generated and citizens are formed with solid foundations in the consolidation of an environmental culture.
