Petroperú produces more than 7 thousand barrels of oil in lots in the northwest

In a new working visit, the President of the Board of Directors of Petroperú, Pedro Chira Fernández, toured the facilities of Lot VI, operated by the State company since last October, fulfilling his commitment to maintain optimal and sustained production of oil and gas, for the benefit of the country.

“We received the three lots (I, VI and Z-69) with a production slightly higher than 7,000 barrels per day and we have gained close to 150 barrels per day. This shows that we are fulfilling our commitment to maintain production in these lots, which have temporary two-year contracts," said Chira Fernández.

As part of the oil contracts, Petroperú maintains its commitment to increase production in said lots, thus generating greater job opportunities for the north of the country and operating in strict compliance with the contract, with social and environmental responsibility.

Since December 2021, when it assumed the task of operating Lot I, Petroperú has demonstrated that it has the capacity to operate the northwest lots. With the same responsibility, since October 2023, Lot VI in Talara has been operating and, since mid-November, Lot Z-69 in the continental shelf.

New Talara Refinery

At another time, he visited the facilities of the New Talara Refinery (NRT), which continues to operate normally, producing quality fuels such as gasoline, diesel, LPG and Turbo A1 to supply the national market, using all raw materials as part of the oil production in the northwest of the country.

The official specified that, in line with its strategic objectives, Petroperú hopes to recover its position in the market, driving fuel prices downward, based on a vertical integration that will allow it to obtain its inputs (light crude oil from the coast and heavy rainforest) at production cost and not at international price, as has been done since privatization. In that sense, he said that the company hopes to recover 6 percentage points of share in the national market and offer more competitive prices in 2024 to its wholesale clients and impact the final consumer.

Chira Fernández said that Petroperú has already completed the start-up maneuvers and the commissioning of its process and auxiliary units, and is currently in the final stage of operational stabilization. He highlighted that deep conversion units allow the residual heavy crude oil to be converted into products of greater demand and high commercial value, adhering to strict quality standards and thus ensuring greater profitability for the company.

“The NRT has been designed to process light and heavy crude oils such as those produced in the country and other parts of the world for the generation of low sulfur fuels. At this stage, of optimization and continuous production, the NRT does not depend on any specific type of heavy crude oil, since it is prepared to process the different types that exist in the national and international market," he added.

The NRT, with the capacity to process up to 95,000 barrels of oil per day, has 16 process units and five packages of auxiliary units and complementary services, two liquid loading docks and 125 storage tanks, and a modern accredited laboratory that provides valid results. international.
