PETROPERU presents Cope winning books at the Villarreal University

As part of its Cultural Policy, PETROPERU presented the winning works of the literary contest "2018 Copé Award", VI Essay Biennial and XX Story Biennial, in the University Auditorium of the Federico Villarreal National University. The activity was attended by more than a hundred university students, teachers and authorities of that educational institution.

Adagios. Crítica del presente desde una ciencia melancólica”, by Ciro Alegría Varona, winning work of the Copé de Oro category essay, and the compilation “La piel fría y los cuentos ganadores y finalistas de la XX Bienal de Cuento”, were presented by the renowned teachers and writers Cronwell Jara and Nécker Salazar, who with their motivating comments, fanned the desire to read the works recently published under the Copé Ediciones label among the students.

The Head of Cultural Management of Petroperu, Aldo Durán, highlighted the development of the event within the framework of the decentralized work carried out by PETROPERU as part of its permanent commitment to cultural promotion. He also pointed out that the Copé Award is one of the most anticipated contests in the Peruvian literary agenda, which is why he invited students to participate in order to promote literary creation.

For her part, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Villarreal University, Dr. Martha Chávez Lazarte, congratulated PETROPERU for supporting Peruvian culture and promoting reading through various activities in the country. He urged students to grow as professionals and bet on Peruvian literature, "since they have the same opportunities to be the next winners of the Copé Award."

The activity was attended by the three winners of the 2018 Copé Story category: Stuart Flores, Gonzalo Castro and Luiz Reátegui, who motivated the students to write, create stories and read passionately to be the new representatives of literary creation in Peru.

The Villarreal University is the first house of studies where the last winning works of the Copé are presented. And it adds to the planned agenda of activities that includes Iquitos, Huancayo, Ayacucho, Lima, Piura, among others. This is another demonstration of the importance of carrying out decentralized activities of our institutional management and of our cultural policy throughout the country.

PETROPERU has convened the XIX Poetry Biennial and VII Novel Biennial; and the term to deliver the works expires on August 9, 2019.
