PETROPERU presented to the authorities and the civil society of Ilo its Community Relationship Plan, part of the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) for the construction of the new Ilo Sales Terminal, which will supply liquid fuels to the southern region of the country.

Juan Martin Angulo, deputy manager of Social Development of PETROPERU, said that the community relations plan includes a communication and citizen information program that considers the attention to the interested population, as well as the preparation and distribution of informative material about the construction of the new terminal.

Also, he added, there will informative meetings held with local authorities, training for personnel linked to the project and citizen monitoring and surveillance programs. The hiring of local labor is also part of this plan, it should be noted that to date 80% of the workers who work in the construction of the new Terminal Ilo are local.

Added to this was the inauguration of the Information and Communications Office, which will address concerns, complaints, claims and suggestions related to the construction of the new terminal, which is being built on the outskirts of the city. "The implementation of this location is part of the communication and citizen participation program of the Community Relations Plan contemplated in the EIA," explained Angulo.

He specified that the opening of this office does not modify the procedure established for the hiring of local labor. "Here will be published the calls for employment, which will continue to be channeled through the Ministry of Labor," he said.

Fabio Salas, manager of the municipality of Ilo, highlighted the operation of this information center and said that for the city it is important to have the start-up of this project of great importance, because it will contribute to the growth of the port.

The office is located at Jr. Junín 414, second floor. The hours of operation are from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. at 1 p.m. and from 2 to 6 p.m.
