Petroperú presents a Copé Award-winning essay at the FIL

Today, Monday, from 7 pm, Petroperú will present the winning work of the 2022 Copé Essay Award, as part of its activities at the Lima International Book Fair. The essay, entitled “Un mundo precario. Ensayo sobre la obra y la escritura de Franz Kafka", is authored by the teacher and member of the Peruvian Academy of Language, Jorge Valenzuela Garcés. Commentary will be provided by the writer Carmen Ollé.

The essay has a foreword by the prominent literary critic Ricardo González Vigil, who highlighted the critical contributions about Kafka made by Peruvian creators.

It should be noted that the author of this work, Jorge Valenzuela Garcés is a member of the Peruvian Academy of Language and author of the story collections Horas contadas (1988), La soledad de los magos (1994), La sombra interior (2006), Juegos secreto (2011), Infiernos mínima (2014), El secreto de Marion y otros cuentos. His works appear in various anthologies of the Peruvian story and have been awarded in competitions such as the Story Copé and the José María Arguedas.

In the field of academics, he obtained a doctorate in Hispanic American Literature from the Complutense University of Madrid. He is currently a senior lecturer in the Literature Department of the Department of Letters of UNMSM, and has been a visiting professor at universities such as Havana, Concepción (Chile) and Sao Paulo.

His most recent work is available to the public for free reading in the Petroperú Virtual Library.

In addition, the work is included in the Copé book distribution program for the implementation of libraries nationwide.
