PETROPERU presented the winning works of the 2015 Copé Award
The Central Cultural Auditorium of PETROPERU was the stage, on the night of Tuesday 12, of the presentation of the winning works of the “2015 Copé Awards”, XVII Poetry Biennial and V Novel Biennial, the most important and current literary contest in our country, and organized by the company.
The presentation of the winning works included the books “On the route of the silent men”, by Juan Jose Cavero, 2015 Copé Novel Award. Also the books of poems: “The inner hill”, by Antonio Sarmiento; “Preserved art exhibit”, by Roy Vega; “Prooémium mortis” by Renato Sandoval and “Anthology of poems of the Honorific Mentions and Finalists of the XVII Poetry Biennial”, several authors.
The event took place in the Central cultural Auditorium of PETROPERU and had presence of the general manager of the company, Carlos Linares Peñaloza, of the winner of the Novel Copé Oro Award, Juan José Cavero, and the winner of the Poetry Copé Oro Award, Antonio Sarmiento. Commentary was in charge of the writers and researchers Carmen Ollé and Ricardo González Vigil.
During his opening words, Mr. Linares indicated that the Copé Award is a clear sign that the commitment of PETROPERU to continue betting on the promotion of culture. “The Ediciones Copé imprint has spanned over 200 titles, which has led it to consolidate a well-deserved renown both between public companies and with the Peruvian publishing sector, which speaks of our commitment with the promotion of reading”, he indicated.
Additionally, Ricardo González Vigil, in representation of the Jury of the Novel Award, reminded everyone that the Copé is the only literary competition that makes known all the currents and the varied literary production that is created in our country. “Since the existence of the Copé, other awards, festivals and even book fairs have appeared”, he manifested.
For this reason, he congratulated the participation of PETROPERU in the I Puno Book Fair. “It’s a decentralized measure that must be applauded, because by presenting the winning works outside of Lima first, we can speak of a commitment to inclusion of all the literary proposals of the country”, he indicated.
Finally, the poet Carmen Ollé, in representation of the Jury of the Poetry Award, remarked the “many layers and levels” that the winning work in the Oro category, “The inner hill” presents. On the same note, she highlighted the publication of the “Anthology of poems of the Honorific Mentions and Finalists of the XVII Poetry Biennial”, indicating that it allows for the promotion of the work of several new and talented names coming from the different regions of the country.
