PETROPERU presented new premises to the Villareal school in Talara
This morning, the ceremony for the presentation of the new premises of the Federico Villarreal Private Educational Institution, located in the Cercado de Talara, was carried out by PETROPERU.
The event was lead by the Chairman of the Board of the state oil company, Eng. James Atkins Lerggios. It had the participation of Maria Melgarejo Páucar, vice president of the Energy and Mines Commission; Freddy Sarmiento Betancourt, leader of the Working Group on the PMRT and Martyrs Lizana Santos. Likewise, the General Manager of PETROPERU, Esteban Bertarelli Bustamante, the principal of the school, Professor Óscar Sánchez Rodríguez, the president of APAFA, Mr. Edgar Paredes Chira; as well as officials, authorities, the faculty and the entire student body.
In his message of inauguration and delivery of modern educational facilities, Mr. Atkins stressed that the "new Villarreal School, thanks to its new design and construction, will provide the right conditions to continue forging a better future for the more than 500 students who they attend their classrooms."
It should be noted that the new premises have 15 teaching rooms, a multipurpose room, computer room, physics and chemistry laboratories, library and video library, distributed in two-storey modules. It also has spaces for the principal’s office, the vice principal’s office, archives, administration, an area for the teaching staff, OBE, nurse station and psychology. For playing sports, recreational and training activities they have a large main courtyard and a sports slab with bleachers. Also part of this school are two dressing rooms, restroom services for students, teachers and people with disabilities, as well as storage spaces for sports and band equipment, guardianship, cleaning and housekeeping, water pumps and cafeteria.
The construction, on a 5,000 m2 plot owned by PETROPERU, began after the laying of the first stone on November 17, 2017. It was built in 300 days, generating jobs in Talara. The works meant an investment of S / 11'305,888.14.
The Federico Villarreal school is the first non-state secondary school establishment created in the province of Talara, founded on March 28, 1969, and administered by the parents themselves. Throughout its 49 years of creation, it maintains a high academic level having attained laurels that uphold the name of the province of Talara. Recently, it has received the Academic Excellence Award in recognition of the good performance of its students who have direct access to the Private University of Piura through certification and also to the Antenor Orrego and César Vallejo universities, for the good academic performance of its students.
PROGRESS OF THE PMRT
Also, the Chairman of the Board of PETROPERU, with regards to the Talara Refinery Modernization Project, said that the construction works are progressing according to schedule. To date, a 71 percent advance is registered, with regards to the fulfillment of the commitments acquired in the Environmental Impact Study (EIA).
"The oil company is in permanent coordination with the contractors so that the agreements reached regarding the hiring of local labor are respected," Atkins Lerggios said, highlighting social the commitments with the population of Talara, aimed at strengthening the programs that they develop and guarantee relations of mutual respect, being transparent and actively participating in the dialogue processes, with the commitment to contribute to the progress of all the residents of Talara, not only in education issues but also in health projects, tourism and strengthening of productive capacities, among others.
