PETROPERU presented in Iquitos the winning works of the 2018 Copé Award
More than a hundred people, including authorities, journalists and the general public, gathered at the ceremony to present the winning works of the literary contest 2018 Copé Award, VI Essay Biennial and XX Story Biennial, held at the Local of the Iquitos Bar Association, within the framework of the Second Amazon Book Fair Iquitos 2019.
“Adagios. Crítica del presente desde una ciencia melancólica”, winning work of the Copé Oro essay category, by Ciro Alegría Varona and the play “La piel fría y los cuentos ganadores y finalistas de la XX Bienal de Cuento”, where the Loreto native Luis Reátegui, turned out to be winner of the Copé Bronce with the play “La Casa abuela”, were presented to the audience that was pleased with the masterful presentation of Father Joaquín García and Javier Velásquez, who with their motivating comments, stoked the desire to read the books, recently published under the Ediciones Copé label.
The Head of Cultural Management of PETROPERU, Aldo Durán Repetto, highlighted the validity of the Copé Award throughout its 40 years of creation, as part of the Cultural Policy of PETROPERU and its commitment to the development of literary creation, the dissemination of reading and promotion of culture in our country.
He also noted that the Copé Award has been growing in number of contestants and content quality, encouraging Loreto locals to continue participating. This year, the XIX Poetry Biennial and VII Novel Biennial is convened and the deadline to submit works expires on August 9, 2019.
The presentation of the winning Copé Award works began in Iquitos and will continue in the cities of Huancayo, Ayacucho, Lima and Piura. In this way, PETROPERU reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting, in a decentralized manner, the culture in different parts of the country.
