PETROPERU presented Cope Ediciones books at Ayacucho Book Fair
PETROPERÚ participated in the International Book Fair of Ayacucho (FILAY 2019) with the presentation of the winning works of the Copé 2018 Prize: “Adagios. Crítica del presente desde una ciencia melancólica” - Copé Award for Essay of Ciro Alegría Varona and the book “La piel fría y los cuentos ganadores y finalistas de la XX Bienal de Cuento”, as well as the most recent title of Editions Cope, “21 Relatos sobre la independencia de Perú”.
The presentation of the winners of the Copé 2018 Prize was held at the Municipal Theater of Ayacucho, which counted with the presence of the winners in each essay and short story category, Mr. Ciro Alegría and Mr. Stuart Flores, as well as the commentators and teachers Urbano Muñoz and Ricardo González Vigil.
In the same way, the Cultural Center of the San Cristóbal de Huamanga University was the venue chosen for the presentation of the book "21 Stories about the Independence of Peru", which was attended by the compiler José Donayre Hoefken and the writer's comments Ricardo Sumalavia.
Aldo Durán, Head of Cultural Management of PETROPERU, highlighted the Company's commitment to cultural promotion, undertaken more than 40 years ago through various lines of action and in a decentralized manner. "PETROPERU states that culture is of equal importance to its productive chain and will continue to support culture, reading and the extension of cultural activities in the country," he said.
These activities managed to capture the attention of a large number of people who flocked to the two presentations. Those attending each day received, free of charge, a copy of the book presented.
We must remember that the Copé Awards are the most important literary awards in the country. The first contest, in the Short Story category, was established by the state oil company in 1979, so this 2019 said prize reaches 40 years.
Likewise, the book “21 Relatos sobre la independencia del Perú”, compiled by José Donayre Hoefken, is the meeting of 21 stories by Peruvian writers that treat independence in Peru; event with varying degrees of social complexity that is about to turn 200 in 2021, the so-called Bicentennial. Writers like Fernando Iwasaki, José Güich, Fabrizio Tealdo, Alejandro Neyra, Dante Castro, Yelina Pulliti, Pedro Novoa, among others.
These activities are part of PETROPERU's Cultural Management Work Plan and reflect its commitment to the promotion of literary and historical research and creation in the country.
