PETROPERÚ prepares to assume operation of Lot I

PETROPERÚ began a program of visits to the oil fields of Lot I, located in the district of Pariñas, province of Talara, as part of the activities prior to its entry as an operator, on December 27.

In the first visit, PETROPERÚ officials met with the representatives of the company UNNA (Ex GMP), current operator, who guided them through the facilities, where they were able to verify in situ the operational processes that are being carried out and talk with the personnel currently working in said lot.

During December, PETROPERÚ officials plan to hold two additional meetings to learn the details that will allow it to take over its operation soon and continue with its strengthening process through the vertical integration of oil activities.

In July 2021, Perupetro carried out the citizen participation process prior to the assignment of a new operator for Lot I, considering the expiration of the contract and in compliance with the citizen participation regulations for hydrocarbon activities.

As is public knowledge, the contract with the UNNA company expires on December 26, after the 30-year term established by the Organic Hydrocarbons Law (LOH) for oil exploration and production contracts expires.

The return to the upstream

PETROPERÚ's entry into Lot I will allow it to supply its own oil production to the Talara Refinery, an important milestone for the vertical integration of the state company, in line with its strengthening that is currently being promoted by the central government.
