Authorities and representatives of the public sector, as well as the main executives and directors of the national oil sector, were present in Iquitos during the Oil Reactivation forum in the Loreto region, where Petroperú -as a state company- had an outstanding participation.

The conference was attended by Tomás Díaz del Águila, corporate manager of Exploration, Production and Oil Pipeline, who highlighted the contribution to the country of the state-owned company, not only by providing quality fuels to the Peruvian market, but also by its permanent and constant support for the development of the country, through programs and social activities aimed at improving the standard of living of more Peruvians.

In this sense, he highlighted the mission that the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP) fulfills, especially in the towns of the Amazon, which, he said, receives permanent maintenance, which considers, among other things, the reinforcement of the pipeline due to geometric anomalies and due to loss of thickness, the replacement of pipeline sectors, the inspection of the state of the pipeline at river crossings, the reinforcement of river banks and stabilization of slopes, and the maintenance of pumping station equipment.

Likewise, he maintained that Petroperú permanently carries out air patrols to identify the state of the affected areas; as well as the study of soil geomechanics -mainly in Section II (Upper Amazon)- to detect areas of possible land displacements due to rains or earthquakes.

For the official, it is important to recover ONP transport volumes above 30,000 barrels per day, thus allowing the reactivation of oil in the northern jungle of the country, which, he said, will lead to generating more canon and resources for the region. Loreto, for the well-being of the communities near the ONP.

"Until 2009, Petroperú pumped approximately 30,000 barrels per day and since 2014 -as a consequence of cuts by third parties- crude oil transportation has decreased significantly, even completely paralyzing pumping, generating significant economic losses," he specified.

Because Section I, in Loreto I, is where there is a greater frequency of attacks due to cuts to the pipeline, Petroperú plans to have other alternatives for the reception of crude. "For this reason, the reception of oil from the Petrotal company will be restored and, in the near future, restart the production and transportation of crude from Lot 192, expected to become the second field with the highest production nationwide," he added.

On the other hand, he highlighted the start of hydrocarbon activities in Lot 64 (Datem del Marañón), immediately after the approval of the Environmental Impact Study, currently in the process of preparation, anticipating the production of very good quality oil.

At another moment of the national forum that was held under the motto "Promoting sustainable development for the Peruvian Amazon", the manager of the Petroperú Community Relations department, Cecilia Quiroz Pacheco, had an outstanding participation in the panel on the new sustainability model for promote oil production, along with other specialists and authorities.
