PETROPERÚ opens the call for the 2021 Copé Award
At the closing of the Month of Letters, PETROPERÚ officially announced the start of the call for participants to the 2021 Copé Award, the most important award for literary creation in the country, organized and promoted by the state company since 1979.
After making this important announcement, the Communications Department Manager, Carla Santa Cruz, reported that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the presentation of the works will be carried out virtually, through the platform implemented for this literary contest that, for 42 years, has promoted literary creation in our country and the promotion of Peruvian writers residing in Peru and abroad.

In this virtual space, they will also be able to review the bases of the XX Biennial of Poetry and the VIII Biennial of Novel of the 2021 Copé Award.
The jury, in each category, will be made up of representatives of the Peruvian Academy of Language, Ministry of Culture, Universidad Mayor de San Marcos, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and PETROPERÚ. The ruling will be final and will be announced from the third week of November 2021.
Since its creation, the Copé Award has contributed to the promotion and dissemination of Peruvian literature throughout the country. This incessant work is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is in charge of communicating the bidding rules in Peruvian diplomatic missions abroad.
In this way, the state-owned company renews its commitment to the development of culture and literary creation in Peru and appreciates the dedication of the writers who participate in the contest year after year, now from more parts of the country and the world, thanks to the Virtual environment.
2020 Copé Award
The official launch of the call for the 2021 Copé Award was held at the end of the virtual presentation of the storybook “El dedo en el disparador y los cuentos Menciones Honrosas y Finalistas de la XXI Bienal de Cuento - Premio Copé 2020” (“The finger on the trigger and the Honorable Mentions and Finalist stories of the XXI Short Story Biennial – 2020 Copé Award”).
Miguel Ruiz Effio, winner of the 2020 Copé Story Award; the writer, teacher and recent National Culture Award 2020, Teresa Ruiz Rosas, and the teacher and doctor in Art and Literature, Carla Sagástegui.
In this way, the virtual activities that were carried out with the winners and honorable mentions of the 2020 Copé Award came to an end, through the Facebook Live of the PETROPERÚ Cultural Center, which maintains a varied cultural agenda of free access for the public of all ages.
