Petroperú maintains dialogue with communities in Loreto
Petroperú welcomes the release of the workers who were detained on Sunday, November 24 by leaders and residents of the Fernando Rosas community, in the district of Morona, Datem del Marañón province, Loreto region, as a measure of force to demand acceleration of the Directed Remediation Program (PDR) and other demands to the State related to health, education and sanitation.
In this regard, the company will maintain dialogue with the communities through informational meetings to make known the progress of the actions related to the PDR, strictly complying with the regulatory procedures required by the supervisory bodies. Although the processes required by a PDR are broad, Petroperú has been developing initial work in the area by hiring local labor, actions that will continue in coordination with the communal authorities.
Likewise, Petroperú calls on the communal leaders to exercise their leadership with respect for the fundamental rights of people and to privilege dialogue as a fundamental tool to overcome problems. The company also reminds that the stations of the North Peruvian Pipeline are sensitive industrial facilities, where the storage and handling of hydrocarbons requires proper management. Improper handling or contact between these materials and heat sources could cause explosions with serious consequences for nearby communities, workers and the facilities themselves, considered a National Critical Asset.
