PETROPERU maintains a constant commitment to the health of Talara

As part of its commitment to Talara and in line with its Social Management Policy, PETROPERU permanently carries out a series of actions aimed at contributing to the work of the State in health care and improving the quality of life of the residents of the province of Talara, especially in recent months in which the COVID-19 pandemic has generated the collapse of health facilities in this and other cities in the country.

Since the State of National Emergency was declared, PETROPERU has maintained constant coordination with local authorities in order to join efforts and contribute to the work being carried out by the Ministry of Health and ESSALUD to deal with the spread of the coronavirus in the province. oil.

One of the first actions taken was to provide the MINSA Talara II "Carlos Humberto Vivanco Mauricio" Health Center with more than 25,000 biosecurity implements so that medical and healthcare personnel can continue to provide adequate and safe care to the patients who came to this health facility.

The lack of diagnostic instruments for the spread of the coronavirus was also addressed by PETROPERÚ, which donated 5,000 rapid test kits, which to date have been used by the health authorities in targeted groups of the local population that carry out work in scenarios of high agglomeration as supply centers, among others.

Likewise, the state company has been providing food service for medical personnel who carry out long hours of work, support that will be maintained during the State of National Emergency. Thanks to the contracting companies of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT), 22 10 m³ oxygen tanks have been delivered as a loan.

Hospital for ICU patients

As part of its next actions in favor of the Talara community, the PETROPERU Board of Directors has approved the donation of a Modular Hospital, which will have a hospital area of 400 square meters to provide timely care to moderate and seriously ill patients affected by the COVID-19.

The modern establishment will have a useful life of 15 years and will come into operation at the end of July, after completing the processes of acquisition, medical equipment and implementation on the esplanade of Hospital II of ESSALUD, strengthening the services that have come to date offering this hospitality to face the pandemic.

The Modular Hospital will be implemented with 30 beds for hospitalization of moderate patients COVID-19 and 15 to care for seriously ill patients requiring care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). It will have modern medical equipment that includes pulmonary ventilators, automatic defibrillators, electrocardiographs, a central monitor for multiple beds and LED screens to visualize the vital signs of patients, among others.

The operation and maintenance of the Modular Hospital will be in charge of ESSALUD, an institution that will assume the provision of professional and technical personnel, as well as supplies and medicines for the treatment of COVID-19. It is important to mention that, due to the health emergency that the country is going through, the establishment will be available to all patients with COVID-19 in Talara and will not limit its attention to only insured patients.

Oxygen for hospital

The oil companies that operate in the Talara area have been coordinating the implementation of an oxygen supply solution for Hospital II of ESSALUD, which will allow the patients of this health facility to be cared for, where the Modular Hospital will operate, which will donate PETROPERU.

It is important to point out that the current operations of the Talara Refinery and the process units that are being built as part of the new PETROPERU refinery complex in the Piura province are not designed for the production of oxygen, as has been erroneously reported.

Permanent commitment

Earlier this year, it donated an ambulance to the MINSA Talara II "Carlos Humberto Vivanco Mauricio" Health Center, for the timely and adequate transfer of patients who require specialized care in other more complex health centers in the Piura region.

Every year, PETROPERU carries out more than 3,500 medical services through itinerant campaigns, aimed at the population of this city. Likewise, since 2016, and in coordination with the Ministry of Health, it participates in vector control campaigns for dengue, zika and chikungunya.

In addition to these management and social promotion actions, PETROPERU plays an important role as a local economic actor, permanently fulfilling its obligations to the corresponding authorities, which allows it to have adequate resources for the execution of investments that contribute to the development of communities close to its operations.

Restart of the PMRT

PETROPERU has started the negotiations for the resumption of the construction activities of the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT), which will be carried out gradually and progressively, complying with all the provisions implemented by the Executive to contain the pandemic in the country.

In accordance with the established health protocols, PETROPERU has presented the "Surveillance, Prevention and Control Plan for COVID-19 at work" for the resumption of construction activities of the PMRT, which has been prepared according to the technical document "Guidelines for Health Surveillance of Workers at Risk of Exposure to COVID-19", approved by Ministerial Resolution No. 239-2020/MINSA and its amendments, as well as in line with the Health Protocol of the Ministry of Energy and Mines , approved by Ministerial Resolution No. 128-2020/MINEM/DM and its amendment and RVM-016-2020-MINEM/VMH.
