PETROPERU joins the fight against denge in Talara
PETROPERÚ delivered an important donation to the Health Center of Talara to fight against dengue and other viral infections transmitted by the bite of mosquitoes of the Aedes genus.
The donation consisted in the delivery of 50 kilograms of granulated pyriproxyfen 0.5%, which will eradicate mosquito eggs and larvae in more than 30 thousand homes that make up the district of Pariñas, for a period of four months.
Doctor Hugo Albán Gallo, head of the Health Center of Talara, said that this new alternative of vector control of disease-transmitting mosquitoes is more effective than Abate, preventing the spread in this area of the country, considered endemic.
"I give thanks to PETROPERU for this significant donation that will allow us to start field work in the coming days, in order to prevent the spread of dengue in Talara," said Albán Gallo.
Albán Gallo explained that there will be 25 inspectors from the Health Center who will make the home visits to place the chemical in the tanks where the neighbors store drinking water, as was done previously with Abate.
In this sense, the doctor urged the population to provide aid for this activity, which will be carried out normally, since this is the only way to control the mosquito that in addition to dengue is a transmitter of Zika and Chikunguya.
