PETROPERÚ joins the Bicentennial Tourism Program that trains artisans in digital skills
Artisans from the Independencia (Amazon River) and Santo Tomas (Nanay River) communities, belonging to the Punchana district, in Iquitos, were trained through a new workshop called “Digital Craftsman 2021”, organized by the Center for Research and Development of Business (CIDENE), with the support of the United States Embassy.
It is a training program that seeks to increase digital skills in artisans using new technology and information tools; Since this will allow them to digitize their offer, improve their competitiveness and achieve the expected sales, through digital platforms such as Artesanías del Perú and Perú Marketplace.
In this way, artisans from various communities will be able to display and sell their products, especially those woven in chambira fiber, a palm tree that is abundant in the area and is used in a sustainable way.
The training was carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR), the Peruvian Promotion Commission for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) and the Tourism Training Center (CENFOTUR); framed in the Bicentennial Tourism Program, aimed at all artisans nationwide.
The Bicentennial Tourism Program indicated that about 50 smartphones will be raffled, with a data package included, so that artisans can complement and put into practice what they have learned during the last two months in the Digital Artisan program.
The initiative has the purpose of the economic reactivation of both crafts and tourism, especially taking into account the effects of the pandemic in recent months. This activity is part of PETROPERÚ's Social Management Plan.
