PETROPERU joins campaign for clean air

PETROPERU joined the National Clean Air Campaign of the Ministry of the Environment, whose objective is to promote the informed and conscious participation of citizens on air care, under the slogan "Improve your quality, your life".

The campaign, which was launched today by the Minister for the Enviroment, Fabiola Muñoz, was attended by the Commercial Manager of PETROPERU, Gustavo Navarro, as well as representatives of hydrocarbon companies, importers of vehicles, automotive and business associations.

Navarro recalled that PETROPERU launched to market more than 20 years ago, without any law mandating it, the first unleaded gasoline and has continued with that initiative over time to provide a cleaner air that contributes to improving the health of the population.

"Therefore, we are committed to this campaign and we are already deploying a great effort to raise awareness among operators of the 667 service stations throughout the country to guide the public in the consumption of cleaner fuels," he said.

Having vehicles with the appropriate technology to reduce emissions is also one of the objectives of this initiative, he added. In this regard, he specified that PETROPERU already sells fuels with the Euro 4 standard, which regulates the emission of pollutants and, when the new Talara Refinery works, fuels with Euro 6 quality will be produced.

This campaign, which has three pillars of communication: clean fuels, technical reviews and zero waste burning, seeks to promote the use of clean fuels such as CNG, LPG, diesel and petrol 95, 97 and 98 octane with low sulfur content.

The implementation of these measures will contribute to improve air quality, lengthen the life of the car engine and fuel savings. In addition, it will promote citizens to perform the periodic maintenance of their vehicles, as well as reducing the burning of solid waste and agricultural crops.

Also participating in this campaign are the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the Automotive Association of Peru and the Association of Taps and Service Stations of Peru.
