PETROPERÚ is recognized for its social support in the fight against COVID-19
The constant and active solidarity of PETROPERÚ, through various social management actions, was recognized by the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI) and the Hombro a Hombro (“Shoulder to Shoulder”) business movement, along with nearly 300 other companies that have supported the State during the health emergency due to COVID-19, benefiting more than half a million Peruvians.
The recognitions were carried out in three virtual ceremonies that were attended by government authorities and representatives of companies and institutions that received special recognition for their help translated into donations and actions to serve the most vulnerable populations, as well as the staff of health and frontline in the fight against COVID-19.
During the virtual ceremony, Prime Minister Violeta Bermúdez highlighted the joint work that State institutions, different levels of government, civil society and the business sector have carried out during the pandemic. "Let us continue to strengthen this bond that we have developed, making this chain of solidarity and change for a country with shared values grow even more," added the Chief of Cabinet
The Minister of Health, Óscar Ugarte, also participated in the recognition ceremonies: the Minister of Defense, Nuria Esparch; the Minister of Development and Social Inclusion, Silvana Vargas. Likewise, through the virtual platform Zoom, the general managers of the recognized companies, as well as their social responsibility executives, attended.
Permanent solidarity
Since the State of National Emergency was declared, PETROPERÚ has carried out social actions, coordinated with the local and regional authorities of the areas of influence of its different operations, to face the spread of COVID-19, thus contributing to strengthening health services and support vulnerable families living in poverty and extreme poverty.
To date, PETROPERÚ has invested more than 10 million for the benefit of 618,240 residents. Among its most important contributions is the donation of the Talara Modular Hospital, fully equipped with 30 hospital beds and 15 ICU beds, through which -to date- more than 14,000 thousand care has been provided to insured and uninsured COVID-19 patients. policyholders from the oil province and the Piura region.
PETROPERÚ donated a Medicinal Oxygen Plant that has strengthened the health system in the Loreto region. Likewise, the state-owned company has contributed to the care of medical and assistance personnel, as well as patients from the health centers in the areas of influence of its operations, with the delivery of nearly 30,000 security kits and 5,000 discard tests. Among other actions, it has transferred more than 11 tons of medicines, oxygen cylinders and medical equipment, to provide care to the communities of the Amazon and has delivered more than 6 thousand food baskets to the same number of families.
