Petroperú is qualified to participate in the operation of lots in the northwest
Petroperú will continue its vertical integration, participating in the operation of the country's oil lots, such as the northeast lots whose concession contracts are about to expire and which -since its inception- have exclusively supplied the Talara Refinery, which will soon be in operation. operation processing up to 95,000 barrels of oil per day.
It was revealed by the corporate manager of Exploration, Production and Oil Pipeline of Petroperú, Tomás Diaz del Águila, during his presentation at Peru Energy 2023, an event that brings together leaders and specialists from the energy sector in Lima to share their most outstanding experiences, challenges and their contribution to the development of the country.
Díaz del Águila indicated that the state oil company has demonstrated that it has the technical capacity to participate in the operation of production lots such as those in the northwest of the country. In this sense, he cited the case of Lot I -in the Talara basin- that Petroperú has been operating since December 2021.
In this lot, the State company maintains optimal and sustainable production that generated profits in 2022, benefiting the population of the area of influence with the execution of social responsibility actions.
"The progressive return of Petroperú to the upstream, added to the start-up of the New Talara Refinery (NRT), will put the company in an excellent competitive position," said the official, specifying that this is done in line with the strategic objectives of the company to guarantee its sustainability.
Likewise, it was clear in specifying that the participation of the state company in the Northwest oil lots, which are about to expire, will be carried out in accordance with the current legal framework, contributing to the country's energy security, also guaranteeing the supply of crude oil for the production of quality fuels to the NRT.
Regarding Lot 192, Díaz del Águila reported that the recovery and maintenance works that will allow production activities to start next year continue to be carried out, together with the strategic partner whose qualification Perupetro has been evaluating.
During the Peru Energía event, Petroperú provided information to the participants about the upcoming full operation of the NRT and the production of quality fuels to supply the national market, as well as the social and environmental responsibility actions it carries out in all areas of influence. of its industrial facilities in the country.
