During the Webinar "MINEM: FISE's Contribution to the Natural Gas Massification process of the National Energy Frontier" organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), the Natural Gas Manager of PETROPERU, Jorge Luis Ramos Felices, assured that the State company has become a strategic ally of the Peruvian State to achieve the desired massification of natural gas.

“Our current condition as administrator of the southwest concession makes PETROPERÚ a strategic ally of the State in its massification policy, in addition to being so for existing natural gas concessionaires in other areas of the country due to our presence in the 24 regions. This public-private alliance should be the spearhead of the massification of natural gas in Peru,” said Ramos.

At another time, the official indicated that this year 7,500 families in southern Peru would be the first to benefit from the expansion of coverage of the FISE bond prepared by MINEM, which would have natural gas connections in their homes. However, he announced that he is evaluating covering more households based on the confirmation of coverage from FISE.

Finally, Ramos emphasized that Petroperu's Strategic Plan 2018-2023 establishes the vision of being an energy company, which allows it to explore opportunities in natural gas and other sectors. "All of this while respecting the applicable regulatory framework," he remarked.

As recalled, in December 2019 the MINEM, through Supreme Decree No. 029-2020-EM, decided to grant Petroperu the temporary administration of the concession of the natural gas distribution system through the pipeline network in the southwest of the country, for up to 3 years, after the departure of the Spanish company Naturgy.

The event also had the participation of Víctor Murillo (Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons), Erick García (General Director of Hydrocarbons) and Martín Mejía (General Director of Calidda) who spoke about the advantages that the expansion of the FISE will bring to improve accessibility to this service for citizens and even MSEs that require energy solutions for their reactivation.
