PETROPERÚ intensifies efforts and supports the vaccination program in the Amazon
The Bagua Health Network, in Amazonas, has been receiving significant support from PETROPERÚ with the transfer, by air, of equipment and vaccines against COVID-19, destined for the Alto Tuntus, Chija and Wayanpiak medical posts, in the Imaza district, Bagua province, Amazonas.
The air support transporting the cargo, which includes modern cold chain equipment, freezers with solar panels, syringes and 1200 vaccines against COVID-19, guarantees the adequate preservation of drugs, thus saving lives in the fastest and safest way possible.
The distribution of these vital vaccines is a complex task, taking into account not only the quantities to be transported, but also the needs of the cold chain, the estimated number of deliveries and the diversity of the routes. In this sense, the state company complies with the standards and requirements for the proper handling of pharmaceutical products.
In this way, this collaboration will contribute greatly to guaranteeing that more vaccines reach the most remote communities of the Peruvian jungle, in a day framed in the PETROPERÚ Social Management Plan, which -in joint work with the Regional Directorate de Salud Amazonas- makes it possible to directly benefit 2,752 residents of various communities in Loreto and Amazonas.
It should be noted that, due to the ruggedness and remoteness of these communities, it is very difficult to enter these areas by land or river, hence the state company provides support, with the transfer by helicopter, of these critical supplies.
