PETROPERU initiated internal inspection works of the North Peruvian Pipeline

As part of the Maintenance Program of the North Peruvian Pipeline (ONP), PETROPERU began on March 13 of this year a new internal inspection in Sections I and II, in order to strengthen the reliable and safe operation of the crude transport system.

The work is in charge of the ROSEN Company, which has extensive experience in duct inspection services with state-of-the-art high-tech tools, which will allow characterizing the smallest anomalies (pinholes) and microcracks that can not be detected by standard tools.

As part of the activities of the "Internal Inspection Service of the 24” and 36” Pipes of the North Peruvian Pipeline”, representatives of ROSEN of Germany met in the PETROPERU offices with the Pipeline Manager, Mr. Manuel Ugaz, and officials of the state company.

In this meeting, the Pipeline Manager, stressed the importance of carrying out inspections of pipeline integrity in order to develop effective and efficient maintenance plans, directing efforts to mitigate the risks related to the pipeline's affectation due to the progressive expansion of fields. crops and geotechnical problems in the right of way, among other factors.

In this opportunity, five advanced technologies will be applied to this task that will help characterize the internal and external threats to which the pipeline is exposed, such as overvoltages due to natural causes, cracking in aggressive environments (Stress Corrosion Cracking - SCC), pinholes and microcracks caused by deformations.
