Petroperú indicates that it does not hold a tax debt with the Municipality of Talara
Given the information that has been disseminated in the media, Petroperú specifies the following:
- Petroperú to date has no outstanding tax debt for Property Tax or Municipal Taxes with the Provincial Municipality of Talara (MPT), which have been paid in accordance with the law and within the corresponding terms, as stated in the affidavits submitted by the company.
- During the years that the Talara Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT) has been carried out, Petroperú has complied with timely declaring the civil works and, accordingly, has been updating the corresponding municipal tax payments.
- In this regard, Petroperú specifies that the value of all its properties, which includes the Talara Refinery, is determined by technical and legal criteria in accordance with the Municipal Tax Law.
- Petroperú does not evade compliance with its tax obligations, maintaining as a dispute with the MPT the determination of the Property Tax for the year 2018, which, making use of its right as a taxpayer, is under review by the Judiciary, considering the coercive execution procedure followed by the MPT.
- Petroperú recalls that throughout its history it has always remained open to dialogue to reconcile any difference with the authorities, strictly complying with its obligations as a taxpayer and permanently collaborating with a series of social responsibility actions, for the benefit of the residents of the oil province.
