PETROPERU's Chairman of the Board, Eduardo Guevara Dodds, announced that the equity, diversity and inclusion website will be launched in the next few days, in a new step that the state oil company is taking towards a more open and inclusive society.

The announcement was made during the Leadership of Women in Times of COVID-19 conference, with which the commemorative activities for International Women's Day that PETROPERU carries out and which had the participation of a significant number of workers began.

During the conference, Guevara Dodds also announced that an agreement is about to be signed with “Women in Energy (WIN)”, an organization of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) that promotes the positioning of women in the energy sector.

In that sense, the official stressed the company's drive for zero tolerance against gender violence and sexual harassment, which, he said, is accompanied by permanent training among staff in identifying and preventing harassment.

For his part, the General Manager of PETROPERU, Carlos Barrientos Gonzales said that the company has been making all possible efforts to substantially increase the participation of women in management levels. "Although we have advanced, this must continue to increase," he said.

The main speaker of the day, the consultant on gender issues, Margarita Reyes, highlighted -in turn- that during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been the role of response capacity and leadership of women that has demonstrated their ability to decide, communicate and resolve aspects related to this health crisis.

“Today it should come as no surprise that women political leaders and their capabilities stand out. However, despite everything, it is still surprising and basically because there are still resistance and obstacles for women to have equal conditions to access and exercise in decision-making spaces,” she stated, specifying that there is a lot to do in the business sphere and in the social environment to be able to close these gaps.
