Petroperú implements computer centers in Loreto communities

More than 150 primary and secondary school students from the Fernando Rosas and Nazareth native communities, located in the district of Morona, Datem del Marañón province, Loreto region, will benefit from two computer centers with internet connectivity that Petroperú has implemented, as part of the Jinkay educational project that is carried out in the area of influence of the North Peruvian Oil Pipeline (ONP).

The Jinkay project, which means “seed”, is focused on school reinforcement and the socio-emotional development of students, and promotes in this second stage of operation access to technology to promote digital development in remote communities of the country.

The computer centers, which have satellite internet and four modern laptops in each one, work thanks to the electricity that Petroperú provides free and constant in the area. In the Nazareth community, solar panels and a power generator have also been installed so that optimal service can be provided.

With this, it is expected that these computing spaces will have a stable digital connection so that they can guarantee quick and efficient access to online information and, thereby, increase the use of educational resources for students.

An additional service offered by this center is the use of computers - under the supervision of teachers - for other members of the community so that they can carry out government procedures, search for employment and participate in online learning courses, mainly.

In this way, Petroperú contributes to promoting digital inclusion in the communities near its operations, encourages technological capitalization and increases access to the virtual world that leads to the empowerment and development of the population.
