PETROPERU identified a damage at the 206 KM of a northern detour of the Peruvian Oil Pipeline

PETROPERU informs to the public that on February 4, an incident has been identified at the 206 KM of the Peruvian Oil Pipeline (Northern detour) in the district of Morona, province of Datem del Marañon, in the Loreto region, 13 KM away from the native community Mayuriaga.

Immediately , PETROPERU started on its Contingency Plan to control the situation starting by blocking the crude oil pumping of the affected detour. Simultaneously, an expertise team was sent  by helicopter to the area, whom at first arrived to the Mayuriaga community and then taken overland to the affected area.

A fissure of 55 cm has been identified on top of the pipeline and its cause is still under investigation. This incident has been informed to the supervising offices (Supervisory Organism of Investment in Energy and Mines (OSINERGMIN) and Organism of Environmental Control and Evaluation). Likewise, we have arranged a meeting with the “apu” (leader) of Mayuriaga to take in account his request of hiring workers from the Mayuriaga community to work on the repairing.

PETROPERU ratifies its compromise with the preservation of the environment and is working a 24 hour shift to repair and restore the incident in a short time period. The company will be constantly informing about the progress of the repairing.
